WE LOVE BEATSON HOUSE! Always given a wonderful warm welcome, service is on time, pleasant and friendly. Great wine list, excellent food at reasonable prices and a cosy and intimate restaurant, perfect for a couple's evening but equipped for bigger parties. Wonderfully clean and classy establishment - Highly recommendable. OOooo and the boozy infusions are a must!

Beatson House offers excellent food in a quaint, intimate setting, which feels like home from home.
Superb home made Roasted red pepper and tomato soup, followed by 4-hour cooked belly pork, mustard glaze, warm black pudding, caramelised Bramley apples, cider, wholegrain mustard & sage sauce; or honey-glazed Gressingham Duck... Rosemary-marinated lamb rump... the menu is designed to set the juices flowing and the sumptuous feast doesn't disappoint.
The Macrae Wood Shiraz (15.5%) is without equal, and although expensive proved a worthy accompaniment to the feast. Rich and rounded; worth every penny!!
If there is a drawback, Beatson House is probably the most expensive restaurant in Barnsley, especially when the 6 fillet steak supplement and 2.75 side orders are added.
With a standard 3 course fixed-price menu costing around 28, it's hardly possible to spend less than 45 a head.
Beatson House is responding to the down-turn with late availability 'specials' nights, but the savings are modest, and the restaurant will be one to savour only on special ocassions.
