The Chilli Lodge

An Equestrian Centre in the Barnsley countryside is not where youd expect a typical Indian Restaurant to be situated, but with the sound of hooves pounding in the background The Chilli Lodge offers a unique setting for a wonderful Indian experience.

The owners pride themselves on their buffet, which offers the chance to sample a variety of dishes at a single all-inclusive price. This is a great way to explore new tastes and to escape from the old favourites once in a while to discover flavours and combinations that may otherwise elude you. Served on Thursdays and Sundays, the buffet is just 10.95 (children half price).

The Chilli Lodge takes great pride in its marinades which offer a full, rounded, depth of flavour to each of their dishes, all finished off with fresh herbs and dressings. A huge emphasis is placed on younger diners who are provided with milder versions of the classic dishes.

The meals are a little on the expensive side when taken on their own, but overall this is a venue which offers a superb family experience.

The Chilli Lodge

The Chilli Lodge is located in an unusual setting, in the heart of an equestrian sports field just outside Barnsley.

Offering a true taste of Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, The Chilli Lodge has all the traditional favourites, very reasonably priced, including Chicken tikka starter at 2.75 and Lamb Jalfrezi at 5.95.

However what makes Chilli Lodge different is the way in which owner Abdul Mutahid has combined his eastern culinary experience with locally reared meats such as venison and ostrich. Fusion food at its very best!!

Diners can enjoy even better value on Thursdays and Sundays when an all-you-can-eat buffet is available for just 8.95 (half price for children) with a wide range of starters and 3-4 main options, giving curry lovers and curry novices the chance to try something new.

While waiters made every effort to refresh the buffet, the naan breads and bhajis didn't suit being left for too long, but overall the service, the setting and the food combined to provide a different kind of curry experience; one that is well worth trying.
