Welcome to spring, it's finally sprung and as is the nature of spring we're cleaning up at Joseph Locke this week and off to new temporary digs at the Civic (plus some other places) over the summer. I've attached a poster of the dates and venues so please let me know if you're not sure where anything is. We'll be occupying Barnsley College (opposite the Cooper Gallery) from September.
We have two special events lined up. The first one is at Joseph Locke park on the 14th of May and is an outdoor session. We'll be moving around the park and will have a model (robed!) so please bring sketch pads and a little stool to rest on. We've invited other groups along so hopefully there will be some cross pollination going on - it is summer!
The other one is at 'The Cavern' (the famous Nelly's of Sir Arthur Lint posts) and is at 3 Regent Street, Barnsley (opposite the interchange) on June the 4th. The frontage announces the venue as 'Freyja's Tea Room' but don't be fooled, the Cavern is real and will be hosting our 60s event. There are stairs down to it so if you're scared of subterranean depths, I'd advise you to stay away from this one :)!!
Following on from some inquiries made about the books I make, I'm running a session at Freyja's Tea Room on Thursday May the 31st. I'll be teaching traditional techniques to help you reuse you're paper and card, laces, material ...whatever. I don't use glue so if you can thread a needle and follow a pattern you can make a book. I've attached a poster too but there are limited places so please book early if you're interested in coming.
Well, it should be a fab summer! See you soon X
