Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society, a mutual provider of savings and investment policies for adults and children, has been looking after its members for over 125 years and has donated thousands of pounds to local charities and community groups through various different schemes, such as their Community Fund, Charitable Donations & Mutual Friends Schemes and the staff’s chosen charity.
This year they want to let the public choose a charity to receive a £5,000 Charity Award, so earlier this year they asked for nominations. The nominations are now all in and staff and Committee members have now shortlisted the final 10 to put to the public vote. You can now cast your vote on their website www.sheffieldmutual.com (In the Community section). The final 10 are as follows: Be Child Cancer Aware, Cavendish Cancer Care, Foxhill Forum, Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre (South Yorkshire), Neuro Support Group (Rotherham), Rain Rescue, Sheffield Mencap & Gateway, Survivors of Depression in Transition, The Osbourne Trust and finally Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Voting will cease on 31st July 2017 and the winner of the £5,000 Charity Award will be announced in August.
Sheffield Mutual have also confirmed that there are still some funds available in their 2017 Community Fund pot so, if you know a local charity or community group that needs some funding, head over to their website to find out more.
